Nike Invincible 3 Review

The Heel

The Invincible FK3’s heel clip has been significantly updated. It is now thinner and extends further into the midsole, making the back of the shoe more rigid and structured. This change greatly improves heel stability.

The heel of the Invincible 3 is 40mm and includes a reflective pull tab, making it easier to slip the shoes on and off. The design is sleek, with less padding for a more streamlined look while still offering enough support. This combination of comfort and style adds to the overall running experience.

Forefoot Stack

The shoe’s soft forefoot has a low-toe spring, so it doesn’t naturally propel you forward. Instead, your foot has to do more work to move through the 31 mm-forefoot stack.

Drop

The generous amount of foam also influences the shoe’s shape. When you put it on, you’ll immediately notice the contoured footbed and the 9 mm drop from heel to toe. The cushioning is most noticeable in the heel and midfoot areas, gradually tapering to a wide forefoot platform. This design creates a stable and smooth feel throughout the gait cycle, encouraging a natural forward motion.

The Uppers

The upper has seen the most significant updates from version two to three. The previously thicker and less breathable Flyknit has been replaced with a lighter version. This new Flyknit improves airflow, provides a more secure fit, and helps lock the foot in place for added confidence during runs.

The Outsole

Version 3’s thick waffle-style outsole is reliable when it comes to durability. However, the small, soft nubs don’t provide great traction on wet surfaces, which can feel risky. The outsole rubber is significantly thick at 4 mm—more than what’s found on many trail shoes—adding to the shoe’s firmer yet stable ride.

The Midsole

The midsole is a standout feature of the Invincible 3, built with Nike’s ZoomX foam. This foam delivers excellent cushioning while staying responsive. The increased foam stack height enhances shock absorption, making it perfect for runners who want a soft landing and a comfortable ride during their runs.

How Much Do They Weigh?

The Invincible 3 offers a moderate weight, balancing cushioning, and performance. Weighing 10 oz (284), it’s not the lightest shoe out there, but it feels surprisingly lightweight on foot thanks to its cloud-like, bouncy design.

Although not the lightest option, the weight is well-distributed and doesn’t impact performance. This makes the shoe an excellent choice for daily training and longer runs, providing comfort without causing fatigue.

How Do They Fit?

The Invincible 3 fits true to size, offering a snug and secure feel thanks to its Flyknit upper.
The design is versatile, accommodating a range of foot shapes for a comfortable fit. Additionally, the wider midsole improves stability, giving runners a supported and confident feel throughout their stride.

How Much Do They Cost?

The Nike Invincible 3 is a premium everyday trainer with a retail price of around $180. While it’s more expensive than some running shoes, the advanced cushioning, excellent support, and durable design make it a worthwhile investment for serious runners looking for high-quality performance.
